Meet the Founder, Victoria Scully

Victoria Scully is the owner and lead instructor at Saison Pilates and Movement. 

What makes Victoria stand out is her passionate approach. Her clients know that when under her instruction they will be met with compassion and support.

She prides herself as a teacher in the truest form, wanting nothing more than to offer her knowledge and passion to others in their pursuit of autonomy over their bodies.

Victoria has grown up with a passion for movement in both dance and sport. After pursuing a successful career in musical theatre, she adapted when the world pressed pause to her passion for movement. Years of dance and performance while training under some of the world's most renowned teachers and performers showed her both a side of precision, control, and passion as well as the side of broken bodies.

In 2017 Victoria began her journey as a Personal Trainer, focusing mainly on group fitness and high intensity interval training. What became abundantly clear was her clients' understanding of how to move WELL. A lifetime in dance allowed her to spot the inefficiencies and her passion for supporting others gave her the drive to learn more. She explored various modalities, but once she found Pilates it all clicked. She went on to complete her Rio Method Mat certification with R Studios, going on to support in leading their team and training new instructors as their Lead Instructor. Still feeling like something was missing, she decided to jump feet first to learn the origins of Pilates via the Authentic Pilates Canada Comprehensive training program where she completed her 700hr Comprehensive Classical Pilates Certification.

Joseph Pilates & The Method

Joseph Hubertus Pilates was born in Germany in 1883. Driven by a childhood marked by illness, he dedicated his life to studying the human body and developing a system of exercise that would build strength, flexibility, and resilience from the inside out.

During World War I, Pilates refined his method while interned in England, working with bedridden patients and rigging springs to hospital beds so they could exercise — the early inspiration for the Reformer machine still used today. He later moved to New York City in 1926, where he opened a studio that attracted dancers, athletes, and performers seeking both rehabilitation and peak performance.

He called his method Contrology — the art of controlling the body through the mind. At its core, Pilates is a low-impact, full-body discipline that emphasizes precise movement, breath, and core stability (what Pilates called the “powerhouse”). Rather than isolated muscle training, every exercise is designed to improve posture, alignment, and movement efficiency.

Today, over a century after Joseph Pilates developed his method, it remains one of the most widely practiced forms of exercise in the world — embraced by physiotherapists, elite athletes, and everyday movers alike.
